Please join us as we commemorate our last five decades of progress promoting education equity and racial justice in New Jersey and other states across the country and set the stage for the next fifty years and beyond. Our celebration will include:
- A panel discussion from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Professor Derek Black, AFT President Randi Weingarten, NEA Executive Director Kim Anderson, and Schott Foundation President & CEO Dr. John Jackson.
- A reception from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.,
where we will celebrate ELC’s 50 years; salute outgoing Executive Director
David Sciarra; formally welcome incoming Executive Director Robert
Kim; honor ELC founder Paul Tractenberg; recognize current and
former Trustees, staff, and partners; and raise a glass to the memory of Marilyn
Morheuser.
You are welcome to attend one or both parts of the event. If you have a question about sponsorship, the event, or if you are interested in a scholarship ticket, please contact Kaitlyn Comesañas.
In addition to celebrating ELC’s past, present, and future legacy, we would also like to take this opportunity to share a new resource with our supporters, courtesy of our partnership with FreeWill, to help ensure ELC’s important work will continue for the next 50 years. FreeWill is an online tool that guides you through the process of creating a legally valid will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online, and can be completed in 20 minutes.
